Strawberry Fields celebrates its 10th anniversary this November for three straight days just a few hours from Melbourne. The festival is a real sensory feast out in the Australian bush where some of the world’s leading visual artists are invited to showcase exploding immersive visuals that complement the DJ sets and electronic vibes. The festival itself is set against the Murray River where swimming is required and lounging on the river bed Ibiza style is a must.

As one of Thailand’s oldest settlements Lopburi, to the north of Bangkok, was once the country’s royal capital. Now this ancient city draws tourists to the temple of Pra Prang Sam Yot, not just for it’s tenth century Khmer architecture, but for the annual Monkey Buffet Festival. Over 4,000 kilograms of fruit and cakes are laid out among the temples for Lopburi’s 3,000 resident monkeys, to thank them for bringing tourists to the town. Music, dance, people dressed in monkey costumes and donning monkey masks, plus monkey sculptures, all add to the fun.

Yee Peng Festival in Chiang Mai (sometimes written as ‘Yi Peng’) is celebrated on the full moon of the twelfth lunar month ever year, which normally means mid-way through November, but this can vary. The Yee Peng lantern festival is held in November every year.  Those incredible photos of hundreds, if not thousands of brightly lit lanterns rising into the night’s sky over Chiang Mai is an iconic image and Loy Krathong – but did you know that these mass lantern lighting sessions are actually part of a smaller festival within the wider Loy Krathong celebrations?
